Tricks: No Audio Output-Device is installed in Windows: If you see “No Audio Output Device is installed” with a red ‘x’ when you move your mouse over the sound icon in the system tray, your computer won’t play any sound. This is commonly caused by one of two reasons below:

  • Windows has disabled your Audio Output-Device.
  • your PC doesn’t have the latest correct device drivers installed.

Most of us may face this type of audio issues in windows OS 7/8/10/xp. So let’s see all the possible resolving ways and tricks one by one.

Method 1

Go to control panel, select hardware and sound, then select sound. In the playback section, right-click and show disabled devices. If this not resolve your issue, then move to the next method.

Method 2

Press WIN key plus R, then type ‘services.msc’. From local services, select windows audio and restart it. If this solution does not work for you, then move to the next method.

Method 3

Press WIN key plus R, then type ‘regedit.exe’, then choose HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE followed by SYSTEM. From the SYSTEM, select ControlSet001 and then control. [Win + R -> regedit.exe -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> ControlSet001 -> Control]. Then find and delete upper and lower filters.

Method 4

From BIOS settings, click Advanced BIOS Feature followed by Integrated Peripheral Feature followed by Onboard Devices. Then under Audio Controller, select the name of the audio device, otherwise click Enable, finally save the file (F10). In some systems, you can direct to BIOS setting -> Integrated Peripheral Feature.

Method 5

If no methods resolve your problem, then Search for a good DriverPacks software. By installing such software may solve the issue as it scans your system for missing drivers.

Method 6

If the above solutions are still not working, then probably there is a chance with a defective sound card. Sound cards are easy to replace and not that much expensive. So buying an external sound card will solve the issue.
