How to Map a Network Drive in Windows 10. It is easy creating a shortcut to network drive or folder shared by mapping that location. When you map a new network drive, it will list as a new drive under This PC in Windows File Explorer, so you can quickly access the shared files you need, just like your local hard drive.
How to Map
Open Windows File Explorer and select This PC.
Click the Map network drive in the computer tab of the ribbon menu at the top, then select Map network drive.
Select the drive letter you wish to use for the network folder, then hit Browse.
Note: If you receive any error message, then you’ll need to turn on network discovery in Network and Sharing Center. To do so, go to the Control Panel, select Network and Sharing Center, and choose Change advanced sharing settings from the top-left corner. From there, select Turn on network discovery. Save changes.
Navigate to the folder you want to map and click Ok after selecting it.
Then it will prompt to log in, input your login credentials.
Confirm your selection and click Finish.
When you’re done, you can see the new network drive under This PC and will be accessible to browse its contents like you manage any other files or folders on your local computer. If you wish to disconnect the network drive, right-click on the drive, and then select Disconnect.
